The residential development at Old Woolwich Road has created three
apartments and four townhouses on a small vacant plot within the Greenwich World Heritage Site.
Brickwork was the chosen material for the façades to reflect the character of the surrounding streets and Conservation area, where older buildings utilise moulded and cut brickwork along with bands of alternate colour and texture to enliven the appearance of the traditional brick construction.

Next to the historic Royal Naval College and adjoining the listed Trafalgar Quarters complex, it is at a transitional point where the townscape changes from monumental buildings into the domestic architecture of the surrounding streets.
A palette of two contrasting bricks was therefore selected to emphasise the changes in plane
and form of the mass of the new building. As many neighbouring buildings display decorative features
it was decided that the brickwork of the new buildings should be embellished with a variety of textures within the Flemish bond, such as projecting ‘cownose’ headers at ground floor level to define a strong ‘plinth’, string courses and recessed brick soldiers on the upper levels to reflect parapet detailing on the buildings opposite, and an open lattice brickwork to the terrace
parapets to provide cross ventilation to the semi-enclosed roof-top terraces.
